Porsche recently announced at the StartUp Autobahn Expo in Germany, a new initiative to help drivers better predict what’s coming around the corner.
“In cooperation with Tomorrow.io, we are working on ideas so that our cars will not only be able to determine what the weather is like, but also how it will be behind the next bend.”
The initial test is a proof of concept that will include using Tomorrow.io’s weather of things approach to provide Porsche automobiles with predictive data about upcoming road conditions so drivers can make better decisions ahead of time.
Highlights of the project include:
- Ingesting useful weather information into Porsche vehicles
- Porsche will leverage Tomorrow.io’s non-traditional weather of things and hyperlocal weather data
- Understand how better weather data impacts driver decision making about upcoming road conditions
- The ultimate goal is to create more informed drivers so they can make better decisions and avoid dangerous situationsÂ
