Tomorrow.io Unveils Upcoming Above-Ground Weather Layers for Comprehensive Aviation Awareness

aviation-product-update

Amid a surge in weather-related disruptions, aviation leaders will be able to make more informed flight decisions with monitoring of key weather parameters at various altitudes.

Boston, July 27, 2022 – The Tomorrow Companies Inc. (“Tomorrow.io”), the world’s leading weather and climate security platform, today announced the upcoming release of new above-ground weather layers designed to allow airlines to visualize flight conditions and adapt operations at scale. Previously available at the ground level, users can now track real-time and forecasted data for thunderstorms, turbulence, and icing at any altitude.

The announcement comes amidst a surge in weather-related disruptions within the aviation industry. A lack of above-ground situational awareness has resulted in more delays, cancellations, and customer dissatisfaction as flight operators react to changing conditions rather than proactively adapting. These new monitoring capabilities are just the latest addition to the company’s suite of aviation tools, which it recently expanded in 2022 with over a dozen new features and functionalities.

Aviation leaders like JetBlue, Delta, and Azul Airlines already use Tomorrow.io’s platform to mitigate both operational and safety risks based on ground-level insights. “With Tomorrow.io’s services, we are able to bring quality information to our decision-making process and change the airline routine for better quality service,” said Eduardo Pongeluppe, Flight Dispatch Manager with Azul Airlines.

“Flight operations teams make decisions that directly impact airlines’ bottom line and safety without fully understanding what conditions their airborne aircraft face at any given moment,” said Tomorrow.io’s Chief Executive Officer Shimon Elkabetz. “We’re proud to now offer a way for these aviation leaders to achieve true situational awareness at every stage of the flight by visualizing weather everywhere they’re flying.”

Going forward, the company will build on these monitoring capabilities to create a full route-based interface, allowing teams to customize tracking based on their specific flight path.
