Tomorrow.io Satellite Constellation Earns Operational-Grade Validation from NOAA

BOSTON, MA — January 27, 2026 — Tomorrow.io, the world’s leading Resilience Platform™, today announced highly positive results from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s independent validation of its microwave-sounder satellite data. The findings come from NOAA’s mid-term evaluation of data collected through its Commercial Data Pilot (CDP) for microwave sounder observations.

NOAA’s evaluation found that Tomorrow.io’s Microwave Sounder (TMS) instruments produce “well-calibrated data, generally comparable to ATMS,” NOAA’s flagship Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder.¹ With eleven TMS satellites currently in orbit, the results mark a major inflection point for how the world collects weather data, predicts extreme events, delivers early warnings, and protects lives and livelihoods from the impacts of severe weather.

NOAA’s preliminary report shows consistently strong performance across Tomorrow.io’s constellation, with specific examples including radiometric accuracy, low noise in the water vapor channels, and strong cross-satellite consistency.¹ Combined with the constellation’s higher revisit rates, several Level-2 products derived from this data also met requirements used in NOAA’s Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program, providing operational-grade inputs for moisture transport, storm tracking, and nowcasting.

“This moment marks a turning point for the entire weather and space industry,” said Shimon Elkabetz, Co-Founder and CEO of Tomorrow.io. “For the first time, a commercially built constellation of microwave sounders, the backbone of every global forecasting system, has demonstrated performance at a level trusted for national operations. NOAA’s preliminary evaluation validates a model that can scale globally, accelerate revisit rates, and fundamentally change how the world accesses critical weather data.”

NOAA assessment shows Tomorrow.io’s water vapor channel measurements closely match ATMS, demonstrating strong agreement across the most critical moisture-sensing channels.

NOAA also highlighted real-world demonstrations where Tomorrow.io’s measurements, processed through NOAA and The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) machine-learning retrieval models originally developed for ATMS, captured warm-core structure and rapid intensification at times when reconnaissance aircraft were grounded, and legacy sensors were offline. By stitching together repeated passes from multiple spacecraft, Tomorrow.io produced continuous intensity estimates that aligned with CIMSS operational products, a capability NOAA emphasized as increasingly vital as older microwave missions retire.

Multiple Tomorrow.io satellites capturing Hurricane Erin’s rapid intensification, providing continuous storm-intensity estimates when reconnaissance aircraft were grounded.

“These preliminary results validate what we’ve believed from day one,” said Rei Goffer, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Tomorrow.io. “A hybrid government-commercial model is not only possible, but essential. Our constellation shows that high-quality environmental data can not only create critical new datasets and accelerate our ability to model the atmosphere like never before, but also be delivered faster, more affordably, and with global reach.”
