With how different weather can be and often is across different geographic regions, keeping track of weather changes – and taking appropriate action quickly – across multiple locations can be challenging.
But with the latest updates to Tomorrow.io’s Monitoring-on-the-Map experience, getting that holistic view while quickly drilling down into the locations and assets impacted by weather has become much easier.
Monitoring and Location Clustering
Have you ever looked at your company’s vast network of trucking fleets or shipping ports spanning the country or globe, or dozens of event arenas or construction sites in different states, and wondered, “How could I possibly manage the impact of weather across all these locations?”
You’re not alone, which is why we created Monitors in the first place, to provide our users with automatic 24/7 monitoring on the weather impacts on their key locations and assets, and subsequently sending our alerts to the right stakeholders with the right actionable insights. With custom thresholds set, monitors ensure you only have to worry about weather impact when you actually have to.
Our latest update, Monitoring Clusters, is designed to make monitoring on the map even more digestible, giving users a quick view to immediately get answers on weather impact from the platform, and drive decisions in as fast a manner as possible. This new experience takes all your locations around the world and rolls them up into clusters. The numbers within the clusters represent the amount of locations in that selected area that are undergoing weather impact, as per the insights that you’ve built and assigned to these locations.
The pie chart around each cluster represents the ratio of locations within that cluster that is being impacted at the selected time. Move the slider forward in time to see how the impact of those insights changes at each location cluster, based on the forecasted impact. As you zoom in and out on the map, the clusters will automatically change as well to best respond to your viewport, and reduce the amount of noise you’re exposed to.
And that’s ultimately the purpose of this update – it’s all about bringing the information to our users as fast as possible, helping users decide where to focus their attention on to drill in and find those immediate and upcoming problem areas. Once they drill in they can then see the insights they set up, and start taking corresponding action as quickly as possible.
All Monitoring Dashboard
Similarly, the All Monitoring dashboard view is designed to let users see all their monitored locations and insights in one view, occurring across all your use cases and drilling down from there, instead of having targeted dashboards on the map. This experience will hopefully let users view more focused information at once, rather than having to scroll back and forth between different dashboards and the map.
Just like with Monitoring Clusters, the All Monitoring dashboard view allows customers to see everything in one snapshot to reduce noise and sharpen focus on the locations, impacts and insights that matter immediately, or in the near future.
And that’s ultimately the goal of weather intelligence with Tomorrow.io – we aim to make it as quick and simple as possible for operators to see how weather is impacting their locations and assets, and then take those actions immediately. With these enhancements to Monitors, users will now have the best of both worlds – the peace of mind that comes with automatic 24/7 monitoring, while also being able to get focused and hands-on in working with those monitored locations when they’re proactively operating and working in the platform.
