March Winter Storm Takes Aim at the US
It seems the phrase “March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb” is so far ringing true as a significant winter storm is forecast to deliver a mixed bag of precipitation across the United States this weekend.
The Central US will see frigid temperatures while heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the southeast and Mid-Atlantic.
According to the NWS, about 70 million from Arizona to Tennessee and up through Maine were under some sort of Winter Weather alert.

The interior Northeast is expected to see the worst of the storm. Forecasters call for snow rates greater than 1”/hr and gusty winds. Blowing snow will reduce visibility, making travel very difficult. Some areas may get more than eight inches of snow. Officials warn against power outages due to heavy and wet snow.
The cold air is forecast spread across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, with lows moving below freezing along the Gulf Coast and northern Florida Sunday morning.
