Winter Storm Gail is headed toward portions of the northern Mid-Atlantic into southern New England, bringing at least 12 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists predict local snowfall rates are about two inches per hour, with storm totals excessing 12 inches in Central Pennsylvania, southern New York, and southern New England Wednesday evening into Thursday.
The NWS predicts areas across the Poconos of eastern Pennsylvania and the Catskills of southern New York will get closer to two feet of snow.
With major impacts to travel expected, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect from Wednesday 7 p.m. to Thursday 1 p.m. EST.
