Breakthrough forecasting model uses AI and satellite data to overcome traditional forecast delays and unlock storm-scale accuracy anywhere in the world
BOSTON, MA — July 15, 2025 — Tomorrow.io, the world’s leading Resilience Platform™, today announced the launch of FOCUS, a new machine learning model that delivers hyperlocal weather forecasts refreshed every 15 minutes, empowering communities and companies to make faster, smarter decisions in the face of extreme weather, especially storms. Unlike traditional models that update only a few times a day and require massive computing resources, FOCUS delivers storm-scale precision in real time, with minimal infrastructure and global reach.
FOCUS addresses one of the biggest gaps in forecasting today: the delay between when weather is observed and when actionable forecasts are available. Built to run on a single GPU and ingest real-time satellite and radar data, FOCUS closes that latency gap – especially in regions where severe weather can strike quickly and unpredictably.
“We’re delivering world-class forecasting to every corner of the globe,” said Shimon Elkabetz, CEO and Co-founder of Tomorrow.io. “With FOCUS, organizations are already making faster, smarter decisions in the face of extreme weather because now, the forecast is finally keeping up with reality.”
Designed to scale globally, FOCUS runs a diffusion-based AI model trained on physical weather simulations and initialized with Tomorrow.io’s proprietary Unified Precipitation system, powered by its satellite constellation. The model generates probabilistic forecasts that go beyond a single scenario, providing a fuller picture of potential risks so organizations can plan with confidence.
Already deployed globally, FOCUS is helping fill long-standing forecasting gaps in areas where high-resolution models have historically been too slow or costly to operate. From optimizing airline operations and shipping routes to strengthening disaster response and agricultural planning, the model is driving impact across industries and geographies.

“We built FOCUS to reflect how weather actually works – fast-moving, uncertain, and often hyperlocal,” said Forest Cannon, Director of Data Sciences at Tomorrow.io. “This model updates every 15 minutes, captures more possibilities, and delivers the precision needed to turn weather data into real-world action.”
FOCUS is now available through the Tomorrow.io Resilience Platform™, with additional regional rollouts and satellite-powered enhancements planned throughout 2025.
